Net calorific value of 3,800–4,500 kcal/kg moves with moisture, particle condition, and foreign material. A cheap wet load can under-deliver energy even if the headline price looks low.
Moisture max 25% by weight is a common acceptance ceiling in our supply talks. Rain-exposed stockyards pull energy down and make loads inconsistent.
Ash max 5% by weight helps limit slag and ash handling issues. Early contract loads should be spot-checked for soil, stones, or metal.
Put moisture and ash caps in the purchase terms, agree a calorific range the supplier can stand behind, and sample when quality drifts.
