Moisture vs calorific value when buying biomass fuel

Tonne price alone misleads. High moisture means you pay to haul water and you burn less energy per delivered tonne.

Put a hard moisture cap on the RFQ and agree how samples are taken. Compare offers at the same moisture basis whenever possible.

Admine product briefs use moisture ceilings (for example PKS max 25%, wood chip max 45%, whole EFB max 55%) so buyers can reject wet loads with a clear rule.

Ask for delivered cost at your gate under the moisture you will accept—not a dry-yard fantasy number.
